The Mayan Treasure-Trail

make some sacrifices in mexico, guatemala, honduras & belize!

Travel through spectacular scenery including volcanoes and lowland jungles, mangrove forests and picturesque beaches. Visit the Mayan treasures of Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras and the local communities like the Latinos of the colonial towns, the colourful Indians running crowded markets, and the relaxed coastal-dwelling Creoles in Belize.
The Mayan Treasure-Trail
  • • Chichèn Itzá A cosmopolitan city with well preserved Mayan medieval pyramids and palaces, Chichen Itza is a fusion of the traditions and beliefs that had a major impact on the Mayan people. «
  • • Copán Cross the border into Honduras and visit the once powerful city of Copán. This Mayan complex is famous for its elaborately-decorated stone columns. «
  • • Palenque At the foot of the Sierra Madre surrounded by tropical rainforest, sits this magical Mayan ruin. Swim in the natural water pools created from the nearby waterfalls and relax at Agua Azul. «
  • • Tikal Trek deep into the jungle to see one of the most magnificent of the ancient Mayan cities and its temples. En route to Tikal make an optional visit to the Garifuna village of Livingston, which can only be reached by water. «
  • • Chichicastenango Explore lakeside villages and Guatemala's most colourful Indian market in Chichicastenango and be entranced by the Christian-Mayan rituals that take place daily in the churches, and on special occasions, with the tribal elders adorned with silver and feathers. «
  • • Relax Visit the coral island of Caye Caulker where you can sunbathe, snorkel and dive amongst flurries of tropical fish. «
