Jordan

following in the celluloid footsteps of lawrence of arabia

Home to countless Biblical stories, lost cities, baths, and oriental bazaars, Jordan offers some of the most spectacular attractions in the Middle East. We’ll tour the Roman excavations at Jerash, and visit the fascinating ancient Nabataean city of Petra. We’ll pass though the magnificent desert landscape of Wadi Rum and the charming city of Amman. And we’ll discover not just the region but its people, some of the most hospitable in the world!
Jordan
  • • Amman We’ll meet up in Amman, an attractive city with many tearooms and you’ll be able to see the citadel and the Roman amphitheatre. We’ll also drive to the Dead Sea where you can have a rather surreal experience floating on top of the salt water. «
  • • Petra, the fabled rock city We’ll pay a visit to Petra and the 2,000-year-old temples and theatres of the Nabataeans which are hewn out of solid rock. «
  • • Overlooking the Promised Land On day 3 there’s a long trip, broken by a stop at Madaba, neighbouring Nebo Mountain and then we’ll drive along the beautiful old King’s Way through the highlands of Jordan, and past the spectacular panorama of Wadi al-Mujib Gorge, to the stunning ruins at Petra. «
  • • Wadi Rum Explore Wadi Rum, where you can take a spectacular jeep safari through the landscape of orange and red sandstone formations. You will also spend the night in a traditional Bedouin tent. «
  • • Greeks and Romans We may pause at Kerak on the biblical Egypt-Syria caravan route used by the Greeks and Romans. The Crusaders built an enormous fortress there. «
  • • Plunge into the Red Sea Relax at Jordan’s only seaside resort and sunbathe on the beach. Rent snorkelling or diving gear and get close to coral reefs and an enormous variety of tropical fish, many of which turn out to be staples in the local restaurants. «
